The Town of Iva was awarded its first-ever South Carolina Department of Transportation Grant for Downtown restructuring
in 2005. The Grant was used to install new street lamps, planters, angle parking, and landscaping. A new water
fountain was also installed. Construction of the restructuring was completed in October 2007. A ceremony was held
at the Iva Gazebo in October 2007 to celebrate the new look. Seen in the above photo is Rep. Michael Grambrell, R-SC
House of Representatives, Bobby Patterson, SC Dept. of Transportation, Iber Neal Sutherland, Iva Councilmember, Bobby Gentry,
Iva Mayor, and Mary Forrester, Iva Councilmember, receiving a check from the SC Dept. of Transportation.
The Town
of Iva has recently applied for a Phase II SC DOT Grant to continue with restructuring. Grants will be awarded in August
2008. If awarded, more planters and street stamps will be installed.
